Brand X currently publishes the following idle-output information for this Subaru alternator platform:

• 180-300 amp standard-output options: approximately 150-160 amps at idle.
• 350 amp standard-output option: approximately 160-180 amps at idle.
• 245, 325, and 375 amp high-idle options: 195+ amps at idle.

Idle output is important for car audio systems that spend substantial time playing while the vehicle is stopped or operating at low engine speed. Actual vehicle voltage and charging performance can also be affected by engine RPM, pulley speed, battery condition, electrical load, wiring, grounds, belt condition, and installation quality.

Important Installation Notice
A Big 3 upgrade is required when installing a high output alternator. Factory wiring is not designed to support the increased current demand of a high amp alternator or heavy duty alternator upgrade. Failing to upgrade the charging and ground wiring can create excessive heat, voltage drop, and alternator damage, including rectifier failure. Damage caused by improper wiring or failure to complete the Big 3 upgrade is not covered.
