10 Gauge CCA Speaker Wire
CCA stands for copper-clad aluminum. CCA wire provides a budget-friendly choice for installations where the conductor size, length and amplifier output are matched correctly.
CCA can make sense when:
- The installation has a controlled budget.
- The wire run is appropriately sized for the connected speakers.
- You want a large spool for custom doors or multiple installations.
- The system does not require the current capacity of an equal-size OFC conductor.
10 Gauge OFC Speaker Wire
OFC stands for oxygen-free copper. OFC generally carries current more efficiently than the same nominal gauge of CCA and is often preferred for higher-power systems, longer speaker runs and installations where reducing avoidable resistance is important.
OFC can be the stronger direction when:

10 Gauge Speaker Wire vs Amplifier Power Wire
Speaker wire carries the amplifier’s output to the speakers or subwoofers. Amplifier power wire carries current from the battery or electrical system to the amplifier. These circuits serve different purposes.
Ten-gauge wire may be approved for a small accessory or low-current power circuit, but it is too small for the main power connection on many aftermarket amplifiers. Larger amplifier installations commonly require 8 gauge wire, 4 gauge wire, 1/0 gauge wire or multiple larger cable runs.

Choose 10 gauge when the power, distance or system design calls for the heavier conductor—not simply because larger wire is available.
Measure the Complete Wire Run
Measure the actual path the wire will follow rather than estimating the straight-line distance between the amplifier and speaker.

- The route around interior panels
- The path through door boots or factory channels
- Extra length needed for amplifier service
- Internal enclosure wiring

- Enough slack to prevent tension on the terminals
