From The East Coast To Reno, Nevada
My wife Kay'tee and I had the opportunity to fly out to Reno, Nevada, and spend nearly an entire week there.
What we expected was a car audio event.
What we got was an experience we will never forget.
We were able to explore Reno, experience a completely different car audio culture, and spend time with the entire Sky High crew. What surprised us most was how natural everything felt.
It never felt forced.
It never felt like we were just business partners.
It never felt like we were dealers visiting a manufacturer.
It felt like we had known each other our entire lives.
We were able to stop by, hang out, talk car audio, laugh, tell stories, and simply enjoy being around one another.
That is something Kay'tee and I will never forget.
Jon Is One Of The Best People In This Industry
Over the years, Jon has helped me more than he probably realizes.
There have been times when he had faith in me, even when I was not completely sure I had faith in myself.
That support means a lot.
Jon has always been genuine, approachable, and supportive. Most importantly, he is simply a good person.
During our trip, Jon even welcomed Kay'tee and me into his own home to sit down and eat with him as if we were family.
That says everything you need to know about the type of person he is.
In today's world, that is rare.
Good people deserve support, and that is one of the many reasons Audio Sellerz will always support Jon and Sky High Car Audio.
Scott Has Been Part Of This Story For Years Too
Scott and I have known each other for several years, even before he worked for Sky High Car Audio.
Back when I owned a custom apparel company, we were already friends. We were cool back then, and honestly, we are even cooler now.
Watching his journey has been awesome.
Scott has done a little bit of everything. He worked as a tattoo artist. He owned a Snap-on truck. Today, he is one of the main graphic designers for Sky High and also works closely with dealer accounts.
What I appreciate most is that he has stayed the same person through all of it.
He is hardworking, creative, approachable, and always willing to help.
That is another reason we support Sky High. The people behind the company are just as impressive as the products themselves.
The West Coast Car Audio Scene Blew Us Away
One thing that really stood out to us was how different the West Coast car audio scene is.
On the East Coast, it is not uncommon for someone to put $30,000 worth of audio equipment into a vehicle that may only be worth $5,000.
Out on the West Coast, it almost feels backwards, but in the coolest way possible.
People may buy a $5,000 vehicle and then spend $15,000 making it beautiful with incredible paint work, body modifications, and fiberglass work. Then they will still turn around and put another $10,000 into the audio system.
It was honestly amazing to experience firsthand.
There is so much creativity out there. There is so much attention to detail. There is so much pride in every vehicle.
It reminded us that there is no right or wrong way to enjoy this hobby.
Every region has its own personality.
And it was incredible getting to experience the West Coast side of car audio.
Putting Faces To Names After More Than A Decade
One of my favorite parts of this entire trip was finally getting to meet people I had known for years.
Back when I competed, I would compete against a lot of West Coast competitors during finals over live video.
I knew their names. I knew their vehicles. I knew their scores. I had watched them online for years.
But I had never met many of them in person.
This trip changed that.
For the first time, I was finally able to put faces, handshakes, and even hugs to names I had seen online for more than a decade.
That is a hard feeling to explain.
It was amazing.
To travel all the way across the United States and still have people welcome you with open arms is something I will never take for granted.
Honestly, calling them friends does not even feel right.
They are family.
That is exactly how Kay'tee and I felt the entire time we were there. We felt welcomed, appreciated, included, and blessed.
I cannot wait until we have the opportunity to go back again.
